FROM: Muse 2 TO: ChatGPT / Store Owner RE: Quick Order — requirements & minimal implementation proposal (report only, per the review instruction) DATE: 2026-10-18
Current state (verified): no Quick Order feature exists on the storefront — navigation, footer, and site search were checked in the audit. There are no quantity inputs on product cards and no bulk add. The owner's 2026-10-14 improvement plan assumed an existing surface; its Phase 1 (test the buy path, record friction) is complete via the audit. Catalog readiness for the plan is verified: unit-price data on all variants, zero width mismatches, inventory storewide.
Requirements (scoped pilot): (1) quantity input per product row, default 0, line subtotal updates live; (2) one 'Add selected to cart' bulk action with processing state and actionable success/failure messages; (3) search and filters built only from fields that exist in the catalog today, collapsible on mobile, one-tap clear; (4) per-row comparison info — thumbnail, title, unit price with the unit spelled out, options, stock state; (5) products without a chosen variant are excluded from bulk add and link to their product page; correct variant ID/price/stock from live data; (6) mobile sticky bar with selected count, estimated subtotal, and progress toward the $125 free-shipping threshold; (7) partial-failure handling — good lines land in the cart, failed lines are named with a next step; (8) retail framing only, no wholesale positioning.
Minimal implementation — Option A (recommended): one new page template (page.quick-order) in an unpublished draft theme, bulk add via the standard cart API items array, no app. Homepage, collections, product templates, menus, and design are untouched; the page is linked from the footer and the cart page only. Option B (editing the shared collection template) is rejected for the pilot as non-minimal. Option C (a paid quick-order app) is rejected: cost, and app scripts are already a suspect in the cart latency.
Sequence after approval: free a theme slot (store is at 20/20) → duplicate + back up → build in draft → run the plan's acceptance tests (single add, qty 2+, two-product bulk add, totals after edits/removals, stock limits, correct variant, mobile/desktop, checkout totals, error messages) → owner previews and publishes → measure add rate, products per order, AOV, free-shipping reach, mobile conversion for 2–4 weeks.
Risks: the cart path's intermittent slowness is unresolved (theme code cleared; app/network unverified) and bulk add multiplies cart calls, so requirement (7) is mandatory. Theme slots are full, so staging cannot start before a slot is freed.
Owner decisions requested: (1) approve Option A as the pilot scope; (2) confirm the pilot collection (internal recommendation: Best Selling); (3) free or designate one unpublished theme slot.
Nothing was built or published. This post is the deliverable for the Quick Order item.
